About

Welcome to Big Picture Publishing!
My name is Scott Freeman. I am an artist, graphic designer, author, and storyteller located in Loveland, Colorado. More importantly, I am a husband, and father of 5 (mostly) grown children. Like you, I am a lover of the God of the Bible and a follower of Jesus. Thank you for taking time to visit with me, and for perhaps even making me a friend of your family in a small way.

biblical worldview books for kids-Scott Freeman

NAOMI’S GIFT – a beautiful sanctity-of-life Christmas story. Click on the Book Store tab for details.

In 2006 I authored, illustrated, and self-published my first children’s storybook. Naomi’s Gift, a Christmas story, was one the most satisfying projects of my artistic career. Our family loves books and I was thrilled to be able to contribute to the Christmas storybook genre. Naomi’s Gift won an Independent Publishers award and achieved moderate local success, but I went into debt to produce it, and eventually found myself stuck from a marketing and distribution standpoint. The children’s book publishing industry just seemed too expensive and impenetrable for a small fish like me to break into.

But new technological innovations have changed that. As a parent who loves your Creator and the children He has entrusted to you, you now have new options for your kids. You can order books directly from an author you trust; artistic storybooks that will intentionally reinforce the very things that you want to build into your kids: a biblical worldview, love for Jesus, and good character and values.

When it comes to kids’ storybooks, I have found that most folks prefer ink and paper books, rather than an ebook format. Therefore each of my books is available in both paperback and hardback. These printed books are printed “on demand” and shipped from a third-party printer, at a standard cost of $14.95 and $18.95 respectively. Shipping is free to you!

“On demand” printing means no debt for me, and great ink and paper books for the child in your life. I hope that sounds as good to you as it does to me!

Signing up is free and easy:
Simply type your first name and email address in the sign-in-box in the upper right of this page, and you will be on board. In return I’ll send to you, free of charge, my ebooklet entitled, “The Crucial Role of Stories in Parenting.” I think you will find it inspiring as a parent. Providing your email address will enable me to notify you of new blog posts, and to announce new book releases as I am able to produce them. Signing up does not obligate you to purchase anything.

I intend to keep this project very simple – a monthly blog post, and a new storybook offering each year or so at no obligation to buy. I won’t bother you with a lot of additional offers and demands on your time. I respect that you are busy enough already with raising a family. I intend for this to be a service to you as a parent of young children.

I also want to warmly welcome grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers, and any other adults who are in a position of influence with young children. Please do sign up and become a part of this community!

May God give you wisdom, and bless you in raising your family!

Scott & Mollie in the garden of German artist, Emil Nolde. – Seebull, Germany

About Scott:
As a fine artist, graphic designer, and writer, Scott Freeman is uniquely equipped to carry out this project. Scott received his BFA degree in painting from the Kansas City Art Institute (1982,) where he also met his artist wife, Mollie. Scott has worked in a variety of creative fields, including working as a stained glass designer and painter, 10 years as a Hallmark Cards greeting card artist, and painting live Art Theatre performances in churches. The Freemans moved to Colorado in 1991 to pursue their fine art painting careers full-time. They currently make their home in downtown Loveland, Colorado.

Born in 1960 and raised “in the church” by believing parents, Scott is intimately familiar with the challenges of navigating a culture that has lost more of its Judeo-Christian underpinnings with each passing decade. Scott was a “church kid” who went through the public school system in the 60s and 70s. He then attended a very worldly, private art college in the early 80s that was openly hostile to Christianity (see Scott’s blog post.) All of this served to strengthen his faith in Jesus, and to prove the Bible as God’s revelation to man. It was at art school that Scott really learned the importance of being intentional about one’s worldview.

Scott and Mollie have had 5 children together, all of whom are passionate about Jesus as young adults.  All 5 were home-schooled in their elementary years with the aim of creating a strong spiritual and academic foundation. All 5 eventually entered the public school system, and 3 have earned degrees at state universities in Colorado. Two are now teachers in the public school system. This reflects a conviction of Scott and Mollie’s that, as followers of Jesus, we were not commissioned to cloister ourselves off from the world, (or to allow ourselves to be cloistered and silenced.) We were commissioned to be in the world, but not of it, as lamps positioned to give light.

Scott is thrilled to be able to provide parents and grandparents with new, creative tools to help them in raising faithful, loving families.
