Publisher’s Description:
The True Story of Christmas explains the reason we celebrate a holiday called Christmas and gives the historical context of the birth of Jesus according to the Bible. The story begins with God’s perfect creation and the tragic consequences of the fall for humanity. After Noah’s flood, God’s restorative plan begins with His choosing of Abraham and the people of Israel. Kids are introduced to Israel’s prophets and their foretelling of a special child who would one day be born to set up a good and everlasting kingdom. The Christmas story is the beginning of the fulfillment of this long-anticipated event.

Special care has been taken in this book to remain as true to the biblical narrative as possible while keeping the story accessible and exciting to children. The story seeks to reinforce the biblical narrative rather than the extra-biblical traditions that have grown up around the Christmas story. For example, the scriptures indicate that the magi visited Jesus as a toddler at a house in Bethlehem, not at a stable on the night He was born.

While such details may seem insignificant, we feel it is best to remain in fidelity to the scriptures. The biblical narrative stands up to scrutiny – the extra-biblical traditions do not. This Christmas storybook aims to create excitement around the true biblical narrative!

  1. John Meyer

This is a remarkable book. It is a children’s book and his presentation of the Christmas story is presented in a way that will be very engaging for children. But the book is also a simple, powerful summary of the whole theme of redemption. It is a good read for anyone. I also love the illustrations, and the Christmas Carol at the end. Really, this is a book every Christian could read through at Christmas to get a reset on what it is we have to celebrate.

  2. Cecile Talley

This book is wonderful and the very best Christmas storybook I have ever read or seen! Everyone should have a copy of this. The script and the artwork are amazing!

I haven’t even seen it yet, but I have seen another book Scott wrote and illustrated, and know the extraordinary beauty of his art. I am ecstatic that this one is now available, and I’m ordering copies for everyone in my family with children. Thank you, Scott, for enriching our family Christmas traditions – I know we will treasure your book for all the years to come, and pass them on to our great- and grandchildren.
